About Sam

Founder & writer, WealthPulseDaily

Sam Ellison is the pen name of this site's founder and only writer. I publish under a pen name for privacy, but every guide here is written by one real person — not a rotating team and not machine-generated text presented as expertise.

I hold no financial qualifications. I'm not an adviser, accountant, planner or broker. What I am is someone who found personal finance genuinely hard to learn — full of jargon, sales pressure and writing that assumed I already understood — and who now writes the explanations I wish had existed.

How I write these guides

Because I write about money without credentials, the only honest approach is rigour about sourcing and transparency about method. Every guide is checked against primary sources — the CFPB, IRS and SEC in the US, GOV.UK and MoneyHelper in the UK, the FCAC in Canada, ASIC's MoneySmart in Australia, and Sorted in New Zealand. Where a rule differs by country, the guide says so rather than presenting one nation's system as universal.

I avoid quoting specific tax rates and contribution limits, because they change annually and quietly become wrong. Instead I explain how a mechanism works and link you to the official current figure. Full detail is in the Fact-Checking Policy.

What I think about money writing

  • Boring is usually correct. Sound personal finance is repetitive and slow. Anything promising speed deserves suspicion.
  • Jargon is a barrier, not a signal of expertise. If a guide uses a term without explaining it, that's a defect in the guide.
  • Uncertainty beats invented precision. "This varies, check yours" is more useful than a confident number that's wrong for you.
  • No product recommendations. I explain what to compare, never who to choose. Nothing here is monetised through product referrals.
An important limitation

Nothing I write is personalised advice, and none of it accounts for your circumstances. For decisions that materially affect your money — pensions, mortgages, investments, tax — speak to a professional who is qualified and regulated in your country.
